“The First Century of Rutland Hospital Care” a condensed version of an unpublished manuscript by Dawn Hance, a registered nurse and former vice president of the Historical Society, opens with the initial meeting in 1891 to discuss the possibilities of a hospital.
In the ensuing pages the struggles and development of the hospital are presented in great detail. Included with the text are numerous photographs and brief biographies of those involved in the growth of the hospital. This includes doctors and members of the nursing staff. Photographs of the various facilities add interest to the text.
A truly monumental work encompassing the first one hundred years of what has become the successful Rutland Regional Medical Center of today.
